Hello Bay Area climbers!
The Bay Area Climbers Coalition has two exciting pieces of new to share with you today. First off, we’re excited to announce that our President, Matt Ulery has been awarded the prestigious Sharp End Award from the Access Fund. Matt is being recognized for “his dedication and relentless energy to climbing advocacy in the San Francisco Bay area.” The Access Fund goes on to note that under Matt’s guidance, the Bay Area Climbers Coalition “has organized and lead several Adopt a Crag events at local crags” and “assisted the Access Fund-Jeep Conservation Team throughout their visit to the Bay area, providing housing for the team, co-tabling at local gym events, and working alongside program sponsors at a variety of events.”
Our second piece of great news is that we received a letter from the IRS stating that we’ve been granted 501(c)3 status and are now a recognized tax-exempt organization! Having tax-exempt status will assist us in fundraising for future events and give us necessary status to engage in certain organizational relationship building. We’re working on our donation mechanisms now and we will let you know how you can help out soon.
